A Comparative Study of the Rhetorical Functions and Features of Personal Pronouns in English and Chinese Legal News

Abstract This paper mainly discusses the distribution and rhetorical functions of personal pronouns in English Chinese legal news reports which is divided into two narrative types, objective semi-dialogic. Through comparative analysis some texts it finds that differences type directly affect pronouns. In narrative, use third person accounts for an absolute proportion, frequency using first second close to zero. semi-dialogic still highest, but only slightly higher than pronouns, accounting a small number. After analysis, this holds there are three reasons uneven distribution: first, between dialogic style style; second, being story narrative; third, specific restrictions on rhetoric.
